Simple Better English for Beginners – Example 1
Say, after visiting a restaurant with family and friends someone is giving his/her reaction.
A new learner of English may say or write like this:
“The restaurant was good. The food was good. The ambiance was good. Serving was good. We felt good that we visited the restaurant.”
It is okay for a new learner. Now let’s make these sentences better.
I think you have got the idea that those repeated ‘good’ should be replaced with suitable words. Right?
We can make the above sentences better with simple common words like these:
The restaurant was good. (Let’s keep this sentence unchanged).
The food was tasty and well-prepared.
The ambiance was refreshing.
The service was warm and attentive.
We were glad that we chose that place.
See the difference?
All the words we used are simple common words, yet the piece has become better now.
That was the aim, wasn’t it?
Okay now, can you suggest a suitable word for “The restaurant was ____ ” ?
